In 1989 my father, Dr.Arthur
Francis Pillsbury, asked me to see that his father's legacy was preserved.
At the time I had no idea what
I was agreeing to do. But I found out. It has been a
privilege to get to know my grandfather. He was
a kind, warm, funny, hardworking and incredibly innovative man. I know
you will also enjoy getting to know him. Father is now deceased. He
and my mother had five natural children and one adopted daughter. A. C.
had three children, Arthur Francis and Grace
and Ernest S., Jr. Arthur was the youngest.
The number of descendants from the three kids now numbers around 45 people and growing. The
three children were A. C.'s nephews and niece until he adopted them six weeks after the death of their father, his older brother Dr. Ernest S, Pillsbury, who was killed in an auto accident in 1911 along with the his wife, Sylvia Ball Pillsbury. The date was September 4th and they were on their way to celebrate their wedding anniversary in Santa Barbara, California. The brothers had remained close after they were grown and the death was a terrible shock to A. C.
A.C. adopted the three kids six weeks after the accident in Oakland, California. But he told them to call him Uncle in hopes they would never forget Dr. Ernest, their father of birth and his beloved brother.
The Pillsbury descendants have been very supportive of this effort to ensure that the legacy A. C. left the world is revived. On behalf of the family and the Foundation I am delighted to welcome you to our on line home. Lots of people come here to do research; the chronology is being constantly updated. There is also a newsletter,IMAGE, that you can sign up to receive. Glad you could stop by.
